An angry mother has spoken out after her young son’s teacher allegedly taped the boy’s mouth to spot him from talking in class.
The bizarre discipline takes place in New Zealand where an outraged parent confronted Colwill School in West Auckland and accused a teacher of punishing her 7-year-old son by taping his mouth.
According to the upset mother, she was forced to pull her little boy out of school after his teacher had punished him for gossiping in the class by shutting his mouth with a tape.
The mother also insisted that her son was just one of several boys who faced similar discipline for talking in class.
Following the incident, Stuff reported that the school’s principal, Rob Taylor, confirmed what had happened in a letter sent to the angry mom. As the principal insisted, however, it was all just a part of a game that the students apparently enjoyed.
“A careful and thorough investigation was finally able to be completed yesterday with the last of the parents of these children being interviewed,” the letter reportedly read.
“These things do take time, based on the availability of key people needing to be free to meet with us.
“All children involved and their parents, excluding [student], have now been interviewed appropriately by the school’s social worker, who informs me that [the teacher’s] perspective that this was a game that the children appeared to enjoy and wished to play with her by all accounts the correct version of this event.”
The principal also reassured the mom that her son could undergo counseling if he needed it to recover from the upsetting experience.
After receiving the letter, the mother of the young boy was less than happy with the reply, whereas she went on to condemn her son’s teacher for her actions.
“He was a bit apprehensive of telling me because he thought he was in trouble,” the mother said of her son according to Stuff. “I’m just absolutely appalled that a teacher would do something like this.”
