23-year-old Louise Porton killed her two young children because they ‘got in the way of her offering men sex for money,’ a court heard.
The single mother is accused of murdering 3-year-old Lexi Draper before killing 16-month-old Scarlett Vaughan.
The court heard a friend said Porton ‘would do whatever she could’ to not be around her children. Jurors also heard that the children became a ‘burden’ to her and ‘got in the way of doing what she wanted’ which included offering men sex for money.
There was a time when she sent nude photos to a man in exchange for cash.
It was heard Porton had sent messages to numerous men asking them to deposit money into her bank account in exchange for sex and explicit photos.
Oliver Saxby,QC, prosecuting, said: “She sent sexual images and her sort code.”
He also told jurors: “At times, her two children got in the way of her doing what she wanted, when she wanted and with whom she wanted.
“Putting it simply, and I hope neutrally, this wasn’t a life in which caring for her two young children – indeed, having two young children to care for – always easily fitted.”
Mr. Saxby said Porton told one customer how ‘they can have sex despite being in a shared room with both children present if they’re quiet.’
Lexi was found lifeless on January 15, 2018, at their home in Rugby, Warks. She allegedly searched online the day before the incident ‘for how long after drowning can someone be resuscitated?’
The mother was also seen ‘laughing and joking’ after Lexi’s death.
Porton is also accused of strangling Scarlett on February 1 after calling emergency services to report that her daughter was not responding.
The trial continues.
