A mother who was out of protective face masks used the Buzz Lightyear space helmet to protect herself from the virus while out shopping for food for her autistic son.
Kelly Hogan Painter had to urgently go to the grocery store to stock up chicken treats because that is the only thing her 2-year old son eats. He suffers from food sensory issues.
While she was out of face maks, the 35-year old mother did not give up. She took the help of Toy Story memorabilia, and honestly, her husband did not believe that she would step out of the house in that.
The determined mother of three put it over her head and prepared herself to go to the nearest Harris Teeter store located in Stallings, North Carolina.
A funny video has surfaced online where the mother is seen wandering around the supermarket unphased donning the space helmet complemented with the visor down in order to protect herself from the deadly virus.
Ignoring her discomfort, some fellow shoppers at the store started to film her. But that did not bother Kelly as she continued her purchase and got home with her son’s favorite chicken nuggets.
When talked to Kelly, she said that it was not fun for her to be outside with the pandemic but if his son wanted chicken nuggets then she would get it even if her life was on the line.
She further revealed that the helmet was extremely uncomfortable since it was made for kids. It did not comfortably sit on her adult head, but it was still less uncomfortable than coronavirus.
She finally said if it is for family, she would do it again because love for them is more important than her reputation.
CDC has announced a new recommendation that if you have to step out of the house, then you should cover your face. And, Kelly’s husband refused to let her go without one, so she had to improvise. And her husband even betted that she would not go out wearing the Toyspace helmet.
