A mother-of-two has issued a warning after her ‘happy and healthy’ kids contracted coronavirus while playing in their garden.
Bettina Rowley shared a picture of her kids – five-year-old daughter Charlotte and three-year-old son Frederick – in a hospital bed in Munich, Germany after they tested positive for COVID-19.
Bettina told that her kids had a fever and dry cough and they have no idea how they caught the deadly virus.
The children spent three days in isolation in a hospital in Munich, Germany while Bettina and her husband, Hamish stayed at home.
Bettina has warned kids can catch coronavirus too and urged to keep their kids at home to protect them from the virus.
Bettina said her children were happy and healthy and were playing in their garden just a few hours before they contracted coronavirus.
They started having a dry cough and were shivering.
The parents rushed the kids to a hospital where they tested positive for coronavirus.
Bettina said: “We’re just lucky it never got to the lungs.”
Bettina said many health experts are saying children are less likely to get coronavirus but that’s not true.
She has shared her story to warn parents that kids can contract the virus too.
She said: “They say kids don’t really get sick… This is not just like a cold. It came on very quickly. There was no lead up period and it can be quite aggressive with the high temperatures.”
Her daughter Charlotte had a sore throat and couldn’t taste anything. The children were unable to eat and were just sleeping in their beds.
Bettina said: “For them to go from being so active to just lying in bed, that meant they were quite unwell. We don’t agree that children are safer than adults.”
The mother said they are still trying to figure out how the children got the virus as they haven’t traveled, neither they had any contact with a coronavirus victim.
Bettina’s children are better than before but they are still recovering.
