A mother-of-four was struggling on Universal Credit when she found out that she had won two lots of £500,000 in less than ten days!
Anita Campbell from Country Durham suddenly became a millionaire and she has now managed to help her family by purchasing a house for her father. She also paid for her daughter’s IVF treatment so she can start a family of her own.
Campbell, who had been claiming Universal Credit because of her poor health, also paid off the debts she accrued after her mother’s funeral.
“It’s still a bit of a dream. I’m over the moon. I still can’t believe it,” Anita said to The Mirror. “I thought straightaway, ‘I can help my kids with this money.’”
The mother-of-four said of the time she spent on Universal Credit: “It’s been more than a year and it has been very hard.
“I’ve lost weight, I’ve not been able to eat properly, which has had an effect on my diabetes.”
Campbell won £597,000 only hours after joining an online bingo game. She deposited her winnings into her account and ten days later, she was shocked to take home another £522,000!
“I just couldn’t believe that I’d won again,” she expressed.
In addition to her dad’s new house and IVF treatment for her daughter, Campbell has also taken her family on shopping trips. She even bought a Lego set for her grandson!
“He rang me and asked, ‘Nana are you rich? Can I have some Lego?’” she shared.
“I gave away my old furniture to people I thought might need it so that will have helped people,” she said.
Even though she has already won twice, she still plays online bingo. “I play just for fun, I’ve never deposited more than £20 at a time but if I am bored in the house on my own I’ll play a game or two,” she said.
