Three motorcyclists were performing a circus stunt in the ‘cage of death’ when one of them misjudged his turn while speeding inside a small, spherical metal enclosure and clipped the wheel of his partner.
The three motorcyclists smashed into each other, leaving the crowd shocked and children in tears.
One of the motorcyclists got injured in the horrific accident.
After they smashed into each other, the circus staff rushed to help them and later asked everyone to leave the premises.
Vicky Ferry, who was at the circus with his six-year-old son, captured the horrific moment and shared it online.
Vicky said: “As they were going round they were really, really fast and close to each other. All of a sudden one of them sped up and hit the one in front so they all ended up crashing into each other.”
“Two of them fell on top of a woman rider and so did their bikes. Everyone in the crowd was dumbstruck, people were screaming and lots of kids started crying. You could see it was bad and the announcer told everyone to leave straight away.”
“All the staff there rushed out from behind the curtain towards the cage to try and help the riders. It looked like they couldn’t lift the bikes off because they were stuck in the cage.”
Later, a circus official told that one of the riders, who got injured in the accident, suffered a broken ankle and she is now recovering.
It was also revealed that the motorcyclists were not using the specialist vehicles because the thieves had stolen them after cutting through the fence.
