Video footage shows youths setting off fireworks on roads and running away when they see police arriving on the scene.
A witnessed said that the youths set off the multiple fireworks and customers were trapped inside a bar as they feared to get hurt or injured.
They were unable to leave the bar because of the fireworks which went on for hours.
A witness said: “They were going at it for hours and there were customers inside a bar close by who were trapped and could not leave. Everyone feared getting hit and the youths didn’t seem to care which direction the fireworks travelled in.”
“The worst part is that this was in the centre of Coventry where children are brought by their families for a nice night out. If there was a child in the wrong place at the wrong time these fireworks could have caused serious damage.”
After seeing police arriving at the scene, the gang of youths fled the scene. A representative for West Midlands Police said: “Police were called to reports of fireworks being set off in Trinity Way, Coventry at around 11.50 pm on 31 October. On arrival, the group had dispersed.”
The video of the incident was shared online and people slammed the gang for setting off multiple fireworks and trapping the customers inside a bar.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. Police are investigating the incident but no one has been identified or arrested yet.
