Reality is a strong word and we believe that everything that happens around us or in the universe has a reality to it and we believe it to be just one.
Well, there can be two or more than that realities as well, at least in a quantum world. So now you can have one or more than one belief because the reality is not just limited to one in number as well.
The University of Innsbruck in Australia’s Department of Experimental Physics were the ones who conducted the experiment to verify and analyze their hypothesis.
This is the world’s most unique experiment working on a confounding though. The experiment was called ‘Wigner’s Friend.’
The experiment conducted has been named after its progenitor, Eugene Wigner who is a Nobel Prize winning Physicist. His experiment was conducted in 1961 that involved two people working and observing the same thing – in this case, they had a single photon.
A photon is displayed either in a vertical state or a horizontal one before it is observed. But as per quantum mechanics, it stays in the state of superposition (means that it is both in horizontal and vertical state at once) before it is observed.
In his experiment, one person was inside the lab who was sending a photon in either horizontal or a vertical state and the other person, Wigner himself was standing outside the lab, conducting a test to prove that the photon is still in the superposition.
Well, by the experiment, both the results and realities were proven true. This means two realities can exist together.
While the experiment was just a thought experiment until now, the researchers have now taken the theory and put it for a test in the field of quantum.
It was observed that although the photons stayed in a polarized state when interference experiment was taken out and it showed the photons to be in a superposition.
An awareness campaign shared some disturbing pictures of sea creatures entangled in plastic bags.
