Another mass shooting incident has been recorded in Virginia Beach where multiple people have been shot and injured: there are two proclaimed dead after the night ensued.
Paul Neudigate, Virginia Beach Police Chief, says that the incidents have previously occurred in waves of three, the police are contemplating whether and if they are, how are the events connected with each other.
Neudigate tells the press conference, “What you can see is we have a very chaotic incident. A very chaotic night in the beach. Many crime scenes.
In the first incident to unfold, eight people were shot and injured at the 20th and Atlantic Avenue. As copes were responding to that scene, additional shots were fired about a block west, and that shooter was killed by ‘police intervention.”
The other person who was shot had been killed but not at the crime scene directly, just nearby on the oceanside party front. Police believe these two are unconnected to the other scenes. Alongside a cop that has gone down by a shot as well, they expect him to survive after the incident.
On Twitter, The Viginia Beach PD tweets: “VBPD is investigating a shooting involving several victims with possibly life-threatening injuries. Large police presence at the oceanfront between 17th and 22nd St. Please avoid the area at this time.”
Police have several people in relation to the incident and are now being questioned. The shooting first started at 11:24 pm on a block with several fast food restaurants and bars, serving on an oceanfront stretch.
After midnight, there was a surge of police that became present in the area, a reporter comments that they were “not sure I’ve ever seen a scene this big,” as they blockaded the area.
Emergency radio broadcasts had released information that there were more than one potential crime scenes and armed subjects on the loose that night.
The radio traffic warned those that a McDonald’s restaurant had been one of the shooting scenes.
