A mother is feeling the heat from an online community after she revealed how she was charging her daughter money to pay her bills but refused to do the same for her son who will be attending university.
Dubbed as mean and unfair, the mother went viral after she posted her family affair on the online platform of Mumsnet for advice regarding her day-to-day life. The mum revealed how her son was almost off to university and she would be the one supporting him with his bills.
However, when it came down to her daughter, that was definitely not the case. Instead, the mum spoke about how she would be charging her as she was currently enrolled in an apprenticeship. Moreover, she even revealed how she takes 4000 pounds from her 17-year old’s apprenticeship salary in just a year for the purpose of fuel and rent.
But what was really shocking is how her daughter only earns 12,000 pounds, yet the mum feels the need to do so. Now, the mum is worried about whether or not she is risking resentment from her daughter for the vastly different forms of treatment between the two.
When it came to getting advice from online viewers, there was plenty in store for her.
Many bashed the mum as unfair and mean for taking money from the daughter while happily agreeing to pay for the son who is now 18. “We will be in a position to take away money from our daughter and also send money to our son.” Just these very lines haunted so many that urgently asked her to reconsider.
“Lots of people work and study at the same time,” claimed one internet user who urged the mum to avoid paying for her son. Others spoke about how apprenticeship was also a form of education and hence the mum was in danger of placing her son in a higher ranking order than the daughter.
At the end of the day, many requested the mum to teach responsibility to her son, just like she taught her daughter. Do you agree?
