A woman from Cornwall is sharing her horror after she was slapped with an expensive fine for parking to breastfeed her hungry child.
Amanda Ruggeri said she was driving back home and that’s when her young daughter started to have a meltdown. The fact that her child was crying and screaming because she was hungry, meant that the mum had to pull over into a car part and breastfeed. But little did she know that it would be deemed as a crime.
After parking her vehicle safely, the mum says that she began feeding. And before she was even done, she received an expensive fine worth 170 British pounds.
Amanda was accompanied by her husband who also felt that it was necessary to take a break and part because things were certainly going out of control. Her baby just wouldn’t stop crying and screaming and that meant breastfeeding was the only way out.
The couple reportedly parked at the parking lot in the Newquay Gold Club for a timespan comprising of 21 minutes. But the fact that the fine costed the couple more than a night’s stay in the Mousehole was definitely strange and infuriating.
Speaking to the press, the mum raised her concerns over the matter, where she claimed that she was treated in an unfair manner for no reason.
“It was just all so distressing,” she began to add.
“My daughter isn’t a fan of the car but this case was definitely bad. She was turning purple from crying and screaming so much. I simply had no choice and that’s when my husband and I thought it would be best to park,” she explained. The couple also spoke about how they feared for the worst and thought maybe their daughter was having some sort of health-related issue. But instead of cooperating, the authorities at the club chose to fine them with such a hefty amount. And now, the couple is fighting for their rights.
