A single mum who was left stranded for hours after her car broke down was rescued by a Good Samaritan who went out of his way to assist the mother in need and her kids.
The touching story of Tawny Nelson first came to light after the single mum-of-four shared her experience with Frank Somerville, a KTVU News anchor.
According to the young mother, she has been having a hard time ever since her ex left her with their four children aged 6 weeks and 2, 5, and 9 years.
One evening, the whole family was on the road to buy groceries when their truck let them down.
“One of my girls accidentally left a light on. My battery was dead. My phone was also disconnected. I have no family to speak of and was on my own,” Tawny shared in her letter.
While the mum-of-four recalled asking passersby for help, no one would stop or even bother to acknowledge her situation.
“They all ignored me. Not even a no. Just acted like I didn’t exist,” the mother added.
With four young kids in her car and darkness descending around her, the mother began feeling helpless.
“I was bawling and felt like the worst Mom ever,” she added.
Fortunately, however, a Good Samaritan showed up hours after the family was left stranded. An older man knocked on Ms. Nelson’s window and offered her water and warm food.
“Feed those babies and yourself, young lady. I have a tow truck on the way and my wife will be here shortly to take y’all home,” the kind man said.
In the following morning, after the gentleman had already towed her car back home, the man appeared at her house with a mechanic who then fixed her truck.
When the mother asked if she could pay in installments due to being in a tough situation, the mechanic explained that the bill was already paid in full by the man.
While the elderly gentleman didn’t request a monetary compensation, he only asked Tawny that she “never gives up and keep being an amazing mom.”
