Clothes should smell fresh and clean when you wash them – after all, that’s the reason we do laundry.
However, clothes might start to smell sour even after you take them out right after the washing cycle is over. And we all know how annoying that is.
Well, here’s a simple trick that won’t cost you a lot, but will get rid of that mildew smell.
When you run into this problem, your washing machine is probably not broken. Instead, you might need just a little bit of cleaning to get rid of dirt and mold that’s been building on the hidden parts of your washing machine.
Normally, if you try to get help by calling a service center, it would cost you to get someone to come by and wash the machine by pulling it apart piece by piece.

And some even choose to get a new washer instead of going through the whole hassle of calling the service and waiting for their turn.
But, those people are definitely wasting their money because they only needed to get some Clorox bleach and white vinegar to clean the machine!

For the areas that’s unreachable, just leave the soaked towel on top of the part for 30 minutes. When you’re done scrubbing the machine, run it on the hottest cycle with no clothes inside. This will wash out the bleach mixture.
- Next, pour 16 ounces of white vinegar and run it again on the hottest cycle.
And that’s it! Your washing machine should be clean, and your clothes won’t smell like mildew anymore.
