A pilot has saved the lives of 89 people on board after his aircraft’s landing gear failed and he had to make an emergency landing without any front wheels.
A Myanmar pilot safely landed the Myanmar Airlines flight UB-103 in Mandalay with all 89 people on board safe without any front wheels.
A video that is going viral on the Internet shows the jet landing before its nose tipped over and ground to a halt.
A passenger Soe Moe said: ‘Smoke came out a little when we landed… All passengers are okay.’
Ye Htut Aung, deputy director general of Myanmar’s Civil Aviation Department, said:
‘They tried hard twice by flying around twice and asked to check whether the nose wheel dropped or not.’
‘So they had to land with the back wheels… The pilot could land it skillfully. There were no casualties.’
The video of the emergency landing was shared it online. One person wrote: ‘Very impressive indeed. Kudos to the captain of the flight & his team.’
Another said: ‘Nice landing by the crew. I thank God for the safety of all on board.’
The third one commented: ‘The crew did a commendable job; the pilot is a rock-star! A great example of human efforts over adversity … Myanmar! You Beauty!!’
The shocking incident comes just days after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane crash-landed in Yangon airport during a storm. It left 11 passengers injured.
