Ever since I was a child I have been hearing that the world is going to end and the signs of it include the hole in the layer of ozone that surrounds our planet but coming out as great news, scientists say that the hole has decreased in its size and it is the smallest right now ever since it was discovered.
For years and years, scientists have only recorded the growth in the size of the ozone layer hole and at this time of the year when the hole should have been about 8 million square miles wide, it is just 3.9 million square miles wide.
The scientists just had measured the hole 6 weeks ago and the readings mentioned the size of the hole to be 6.3 million smiles wide.
This hole is directly above Antarctica and this is even a better news.
Paul Newman, the chief scientists of NASA for Earth Sciences at Goddard Space Flight Center says that it is great news that the hole in the southern hemisphere has shrunk.
He also says “although the hole has shrunk down, we should be a little skeptical about it as the hole was just the double of its size what it is right now just 6 weeks ago.
The climate of the earth is not in a position of such a rapid recovery for the ozone layer.”
What the reason could be of the same is that the rising global temperature is the process that is developing more heat clouds which are covering the ozone layer, giving it the time to shrunk the hole because global temperature of Earth has definitely gone up.
This means this shrunken hole in the ozone layer is not really great news.
