Nate Burrell of docuseries ‘60 Days In’ took his own life at the age of 33 after reportedly feeling “tired” of life.
As TMZ confirmed, the 33-year-old star of the A&E’s reality show fatally shot himself on Saturday night moments after sharing a heartbreaking message on his Facebook account.
“This isn’t an admission of guilt. I’m just tired, I’ve been through so much in my life, the pain of my situation now hurts more than I ever imagined. I can’t keep going on,” the post read.
As Burrell added in his farewell letter, he wasn’t willing to go through “all of the legal crap” associated with the custody battle he was in for after splitting up with his wife.
“You win! You have promised for weeks, you will ruin my life and I had no idea who I was messing with. You are right, I didn’t know who I was messing with,” he wrote.
In his message, the 33-year-old also apologized to his loved ones for letting them down by ending his life.
“I want to apologize to my family and friends for failing you. I know a lot of you will think you could have changed my mind I ensure you, you wouldn’t. This isn’t a spontaneous thing,” he added.
As Burrell suggested in his post, he is now in a better place whereas he no longer needs to fight “the battles that have been causing so much pain.”
“Waking up feeling worthless, lost, confused, and tired/exhausted. I know you all have told me that’s not who I am and I’m talented and have a good head on my shoulders, I appreciate you, but it doesn’t help how I feel,” he penned.
According to the 33-year-old reality show star, America should work on addressing the behavioral health side and providing better assistance to people struggling with mental health.
“Our military and their families need it… Our military and their families need it. I checked myself into the hospital for wanting to commit suicide and from the beginning I felt like a criminal going to jail. Stripped of my dignity and identity and personal property,” Burrell wrote.
“I needed my family and friends during this time and you took that away. Not being able to communicate put me in such a darker hole than I was in originally that was so hard on me mentally.
“I would have told you anything to get me out of that place even if it meant I was okay when I wasn’t. You didn’t help me you held me prisoner so I couldn’t hurt myself?”
Burrell was well-known for his role in ‘60 Days In’, a docuseries that follows undercover individuals who volunteer to be jailed for sixty days. Once behind the bars, the volunteers, whose undercover mission is kept secret from inmates and the majority of jail workers, aim to find out if there are illegal or questionable activities taking place in the correctional institution they’ve been assigned to.
