The National Lottery is celebrating its 25th birthday in a very unique way with a £2million($2.

6 million) fund for local communities across the UK.

The best thing is that anyone can apply for funding worth up to £1,000($1,300) in their special celebration that will champion community projects in 2020.

Awarded grants could help in neighborhood projects, from a community barbecue to a litter clean-up or a coffee morning to make happy isolated and lonely residents.

The National Lottery awardees have made other successful projects like, equipping a park, organizing cookery classes taught by refugees and buying equipment to support a local clean up campaign.

You might ‘thank your local unsung heroes by hosting a picnic.

Each week National Lottery players raise around £30m($38m) and help in good causes across the country.

The first draw took place on November 19, 1994, and till now The National Lottery has awarded more than 565,000 grants to good causes nationwide, shared an astonishing £40bn($51b) of funding across the arts, sports, heritage, and local communities.

These funding help communities across the UK by nurturing local youth groups, helping the elderly overcome loneliness, protecting historic buildings, training world-famous Paralympians and Olympians to be medal winners and funding the UK film industry.

HOW TO APPLY

You can apply for a grant at CelebrateNationalLottery25.com between November 23 and 2 pm on December 6, 2019.

The funding you request must be used between 1st February 2020 and December 31st, 2020.

You’ll need to mention what you’d like to do, how much money you need and how it will work in bringing people together.

Successful applicants will receive notification by 31 January and receive a prepaid card in the post soon after.
