And you’d think the US’s political rivalry is toxic – just take a look at what happened in Russia just hours ago! Russian opposition leader and a dissident to the current autocratic Putin regie, Alexey Navalny has been apparently poisoned and is in critical condition at a Siberian ICU.
His spokeswoman has officially given the suggestion that the case is suspected to be a result from planned poisoning.
Navalny, 44, was taking his flight back to Moscow from the Siberian city of Tomsk when he began to feel drastically unwell, according to Kira Yarmysh, said on her official spokeswoman Twitter account.
The plane later made an urgent landing in Omsk, she added.
“We assume that Alexey was poisoned with something mixed into the tea.
It was the only thing that he drank in the morning.
Navalny is now being cared for at the acute poisoning unit of Omsk emergency hospital No. 1 and is in a “serious condition” Alexander Murakhovsky, the head doctor of the hospital team, said, according to TASS.
The hospital’s deputy head physician, Anatoly Kalinichenko, has also added that the political fighter is currently on a ventilator, and is in a critical but stable condition.
However, Navalny’s spokeswoman Yarmysh disagrees with the doctor’s assessment, and has also suggested that the doctors themselves are also behind something fishy: “He said the same: stable serious condition, coma, ventilator. Does not say anything about the diagnosis or whether there is a threat to life,” she said.
In an earlier tweet, Yarmysh noted that the ICU, supposed to be filled with doctors and nurses, were somehow filled out with police officers.
“They try to get an explanation from the doctor.
The doctor saw me in the distance in the corridor, said that ‘some things are confidential’ and took the police to another room,” Yarmysh said. “The evasive reaction of doctors only confirms that this is poisoning,” Yarmysh added.“Just two hours ago, they were ready to share any information, and now they are clearly biding for time and are not saying what they know.
