A retired Navy SEAL is facing the heat after bragging about the insurrection at the Capitol to his fans in an online video.
45-year-old Adam Newbold from Ohio is reportedly a highly-decorated war veteran, a former special advisor of the CIA, and the owner of ATG, a company that “trains law enforcement professionals, government contractors, military special operators and federal agents in Advanced Tactics” according to his bio.
Last week, Newbold appeared to condone the violence at the Capitol as he suggested he was proud of what had happened at Capitol Hill.
“There was destruction breaching the Capitol. To get in you had to destroy doors and windows. I’m hoping the message was strong enough, unfortunately maybe it wasn’t, I’d hate to see this escalate more,” the veteran said in the video he shared while on his way home from DC.
During his clip, Newbold also suggested that he hopes for the incident to turn into “a positive revolution” and that lawmakers should now “think twice about what they’re doing.”
In another video taken before the insurrection, the 45-year-old warned that he was very “ready for a fight” and that he will react “when called upon to do so.”
“It’s time to stand up and take our country back and make sure that we are being respectful and doing things in the right way,” he said.
“We are not going down looking for a fight… we are just very prepared, very capable and very skilled patriots ready for a fight and we will react without hesitation when called upon to do so.”
Following the Wednesday riot, and amid the consecutive manhunt on the rioters who stormed the Capitol, Newbold issued an apology saying his life was “absolutely turned upside-down.”
“It was all taken too far,” the veteran told ABC as he insisted he is now cooperating with the FBI.
“I would like to express to you just a cry for clemency, as you understand that my life now has been absolutely turned upside-down. I am not a terrorist. I am not a traitor.”
