NBA star J.
R. Smith has been filmed repeatedly kicking a protestor on the ground during George Floyd protests in Los Angeles.
Other protesters carrying banners and placards were shouting for the former Cleveland Cavaliers player to stop as he was filmed beating up the man he claimed vandalized his car and smashed its windows.
Before a video of the incident was released online, Smith shared an Instagram video saying a white man had smashed the window of his car, the TMZ reported.
The video shows Smith in a gray jacket and black pants kicking the demonstrator in the stomach and head but the protestor managed to stand up and escape as others yelled “stop, please stop!”
The man is believed to have been a participant in brutal protests in LA against the police taking the life of George Floyd.
“One of these mother***ing white boys didn’t know where he was going and broke my f***ing window in my truck,” Smith said in his video.
“Broke my s***. This was a residential area. No stores over here. None of that s***. Broke my window, I chased him down and whooped his a**,” he added, mentioning that his vehicle was located nowhere near where protesters were destroying buildings and looting stores.
The NBA star said he was sharing his video so that people knew his side of the story. “So when the footage comes out and you all see it, I chased him down and whooped his a**.
“He broke my window. This ain’t no hate crime. I ain’t got no problem with nobody and nobody got no problem with me. There’s a problem with the motherf***ing system, that’s it.”
He added: “The motherf***er broke my window and I whooped his a**. He didn’t know who window he broke and he got his a** whooped.”
