A neglected and malnourished horse and his stallion friends have been rescued after being kept in isolation for 10 long years.
The rescue story of the Maryland horses began back in 2015 when a rescue foundation was alerted about a farm that disregarded the wellbeing of their animals.
After the Humane Society of Washington County made it to the farm, the rescuers were horrified to stumble upon several underweight, injured horses packed in tight stalls overflowing with excrement.
As the rescuers reported, one of the animals, a white stallion named Quest, was worse off than his brothers and sisters, as he was suffering from severe hoof neglect for over 10 years.
All of the steeds were taken to the Days End Farm Horse Rescue farm where they were in for proper treatment and lots of love.
Since their establishment 25 years ago, the group allegedly rescued and treated over 2,100 maltreated animals. Nevertheless, this case of neglect was the worst one they’ve ever encountered.
Fast forward three years, the Days End Farm Horse Rescue came up with a touching update in which they introduced the brand new version of Quest the white stallion.
“Quest came to Days End in 2015 suffering from severe hoof neglect. He was locked in a stall for 10+ years and his hooves grew over 3 feet in length,” they wrote.
“From the moment Quest arrived at DEFHR he never gave up, and in 4 short months, to our amazement, he completed rehabilitation! The horse that couldn’t walk a short time before was now cleared for training!
“His story inspired thousands of people, and in the Fall of 2017 our hearts grew again when Quest found the perfect home and match in his adopter, Jennie.
“In one short year, this pair have enjoyed life together with regular trail rides, fun in the dressage ring winning blue ribbons and simply enjoying time with one another.”
