Streaming service Netflix went offline for three hours, leaving users unable to watch their favorite TV shows.
Netflix went down at around 1 pm GMT on Thursday and the users instantly started complaints about it, saying the streaming service ‘won’t let them watch anything.’
However, the service outage was not a very long one as Netflix was up and running again by around 4 pm GMT, less than three hours after breaking down.
Netflix, which is used by millions of users across the globe, has not yet disclosed the cause of the breakdown.
After Netflix started working properly, the official UK and Ireland account of the streaming giant said: “We’re back. Thanks for your patience.”
According to DownDetector, a platform that keeps the record of online services going offline, Netflix faced issues all over the world but western Europe and some parts of China were affected the most.
Some people from the east coast of the US also reported the problems they faced while using Netflix.
Like anything else these days, affected users promptly took it to social media and started asking others if they were also facing the same issue.
Some Netflix lovers even went so far as to say: “I don’t know what to do with myself now.”
A person named Charles Lopez wrote: “This is so disappointing. Netflix is down and I now have nothing to do while I sit at my desk at work.”
However, some people who had a life outside of the digital realm said they don’t care about the streaming service going offline as they have their own means of entertainment.
A user going by the alias PastaHusband tweeted: “Everyone is justified in mocking me for buying Blu-Rays and DVDs until Netflix goes down.
“[then] I get to temporarily look down smugly on everyone around me like Rorschach giving a monologue on top of the Comedians apartment building.”
The majority of the people commenting and posting on the issue were those who had a free day and were planning to watch some quality content on Netflix.
This group of users kept asking when the service would be available again. One person wrote: “Today is a down day and I need Netflix. What is happening?”
