There is a new video circulating around George Floyd’s death; it had been unreleased and exploited to the public right before Derek Chauvin’s trial for murder.
A witness claims that Floyd’s hands had been shaking during the conversation.
Witness Christopher Martin testified to George Floyd’s death, claiming that he believed that he was under the influence of drugs while using a counterfeit bill to pay for his items. This resulted in calling the cops, and ultimately lead to Floyd’s death. He tells sources that he wished he never called the cops because Floyd would still be alive if he hadn’t.
Martin tells the court that he was suspicious of the bill and “the policy was if you took a counterfeit bill you had to pay for it out of your pay-check anyways and was planning to just put it on my tab- until I second guessed myself and eventually told my manager.”
Autopsy reports shows that there could be other causes of his death, since there was fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system at the time.
As the footage goes on, Floyd continues to trek throughout the store and dropped off his cell phone in order to be fixed. Martin tells the court that he recalls Floyd “kind of shaking his head, putting his hand on his head. Like “Why is this happening?” kind of thing.” He testifies that he would not come back in the store, taking initiative to call the police.
By the time Martin had come back to the cash register, people had started to leave the store in order to flood the outside due to the escalated situation. Martin tells the court, “I saw people yelling and screaming I saw Derek [Chauvin] with his knee on George’s neck on the ground.”
Martin assumed that Floyd was dead, already deleting his recording and testifies that he does not work at the store anymore.
The video given to the court had given a new perspective, another witness, Christopher Belfrey, recorded the scene that day since he was directly parked behind the SUV. Floyd was cuffed and compliant, but witness Belfrey had left because he thought it had been over.
Unfortunately, Floyd’s death came soon after. If Chauvin is found guilty of his three convictions, he faces 40 years in prison. The trial continues with witness Genevieve Hansen, a firefighter and paramedic when she tried to help Floyd before his dying moments.
She testifies to the court, “I don’t know if you’ve seen anybody be killed, but it’s upsetting.” She continues on, saying that Floyd needed immediate medical attention, “I tried calm and reasoning, I pleaded and was desperate. I was desperate to help.”
Chauvin remained unmoved and Officer Thao told her, “If you really are a Minneapolis firefighter you would know better than to get involved,” to which she refutes, “That’s exactly what I should have done.”
