Modesto Cruz, the Bronx bodega owner who is facing the public outcry for not doing anything to help the teen who was brutally murdered, has spoken out and released a surveillance video of his store that shows him trying to hide the teen from the gang members.
Lesandro ‘Junior’ Guzman-Feliz was the victim of mistaken identity when the gang massacred him with a machete on 20th June outside Cruz’s store.
Guzman was an aspiring NYPD cop. Police have arrested eight suspected members of the Dominican Street Gang called the Trinitarios. Cruz with his broken English explained what has happened at his store and how he tried to help the boy.
He said that he was about to close the door when suddenly a teenage boy came and jumped over the counter. The new surveillance footage released by Cruz shows Guzman running into the store and trying to climb over the counter to hide. At first, Cruz forbade him from climbing, and when he got down, he recognized him helped him climb the counter.
Cruz recalled Guzman saying to him that the gang members are looking for him. He said that Guzman was so scared that he could see in his face.
Moments later the gang members stormed into the store. Seeing that, Guzman tried to escape but they eventually got him, and the rest you know what happened.
He was seen getting dragged by the gang members out of the store, and the surveillance video outside the bodega shows how brutally he was stabbed with the machete by the gang members.
He was stabbed multiple times that on his way to the hospital he collapsed and died.
What would you have done if you were in Cruz’s shoes?
