Hafþór Björnsson, the giant from Iceland who played The Mountain in the Game of Thrones, broke the world record in deadlift at a gym in his native country’s capital.
According to the reports, Björnsson, who is 6ft 9in, set a new world record by lifting 501 kilograms, 1,104.5 pounds, in a deadlift.
The record-breaking moment occurred at a gym in Reykjavik where the 31-year-old, who was named the World’s Strongest Man in 2018, completed the stunt in front of a small audience.
Previously, the world record for deadlift was held by Eddie Hall, England’s Strongest Man, whom Björnsson challenged to a fight after beating the record.
Speaking of his achievement to ESPN, the bodybuilder, who recently revealed he and his wife are expecting a boy, said:
“I’m absolutely speechless. I’m just so happy and thankful that I got the opportunity to do this, even though the world is going through what it’s going through.”
As the World’s Strongest Man of 2018 insisted, he could probably push further if he wanted to.
“I believe today I could’ve done more, but what’s the point? I’m happy with this, my family and friends were happy with this and I decided to call it,” he added.
“Not only did I pull this incredible weight, but I also just feel great afterward.”
Previously, in a stunning gender reveal, Björnsson and wife Kelsey Henson announced they’re looking forward to welcoming a baby boy in their family.
“Swipe right to see gender of the mini me!” The Mountain actor wrote in his Instagram post accompanied by several photos of him and Henson.
In the first photo, the couple posed as they were about to pop the balloon with confetti inside in order to reveal the baby’s gender.
In other pictures, the lovers were seen celebrating and sharing a kiss as blue confetti fell from the popped balloon, indicating they’re expecting a baby boy.
