The coronavirus pandemic is raging throughout the world right now and it has started changing the way we live our lives.
In a hospital in Bangkok, a face shield was immediately fitted to a newborn baby as it came into a world of crisis.
The visor was placed in order to keep it safe from being infected while laying on a bed a the BNH Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.
The child’s body was so tiny that the contraption covered nearly half of the body. Only the face showed as the rest of the body was swaddled in baby clothes.
Thailand’s prime minister announced that a night-time curfew would be instituted across the whole country while adding that people needed to adapt if they wanted to survive.
The curfew runs from 10 pm to 4 am and will continue indefinitely. It is only the latest action by the government to discourage gatherings and encourage people to stay at home as much as possible.
The only exceptions are those who are transporting medical supplies as well as health workers who are going to and from work, announced Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.
Prayuth was a former army general who in 2014 seized power in a coup. After a controversial general election a year ago, he was re-installed as a civilian prime minister.
He said: “We prioritize health over freedom. We might not feel as comfortable as before, but we all need to adapt for survival and have a social responsibility so that we can make it through this crisis.”
Prayuth also assured hospitals that they will get the supplies they need, calling medical staff the “vanguard” facing an “invisible enemy.”
Prayuth also urged all Thai citizens abroad to “delay” their return to Thailand in the televised address, saying to wait until after April 15 in the hopes of stopping imported cases.
Thailand has experienced a surge of cases since March 1 because of people who were infected abroad before returning to Thailand. So far, nearly 2,000 people who came in contact with the infected have been put into quarantine.
The country also closed all border crossings last week for everyone except Thai nationals, diplomats and their families, and foreigners who have work permits in Thailand.
