A newlywed couple tragically died only four days after they tied the knot.
Dr. Noor Shah, 29, and Mohammad Malik, 35, were on their honeymoon in the Caribbean when the devastating incident happened.
Speaking to Newsday, Mohammad’s father said that the pair were pulled underwater by strong riptides.
The couple were swimming in chest-deep water when the riptides suddenly pulled them under. Sadly, they both drowned and passed away on October 28.
People who saw the incident pulled the couple from the water and performed CPR but the couple died at the scene.
According to their family, Mohammad and Malik just tied the knot in Long Island, New York four days before the tragedy.
Mohammad’s father described the tragedy as a ‘devastating loss.’ “This is a shock beyond belief. And it’s a tragedy of different dimensions when you have to lay two children to rest in a joint funeral.
“They were truly in love with each other. The kind of chemistry that we saw in those two human beings was amazingly fascinating. They loved each other.”
Ahmad Malik, Mohammad’s brother, said: “My brother was very deeply in love with her. He was always glowing when he was with her. He was glowing on the day of his wedding.
“It was the happiest day of our lives just four days earlier when we celebrated their wedding at The Carltun in Eisenhower Park.”
He continued: “Noor and Mohammad together were just magnetic and brought happiness to everyone around them. Their energy was infectious and beautiful and they were beautiful and glowing.
“While we’re sad they’re not with us anymore, we’re glad that they’re together and were together in their final moments.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.
