A witness has gone on to make some startling revelations in the Jussie Smollett trial, including how the actor staged the entire act.
According to local media reports, the man who was reportedly paid by Smollett to assist him in staging an entire hate crime incident went on to take the stand in Chicago on Wednesday, giving groundbreaking statements.
This includes describing to the jury how the star paid him to take part in the hoax, in addition to making promises regarding how he would assist him in gearing his own acting career in the right direction.
28-year-old Abimbola Osundairo served as a key witness in the high-profile trial after taking the stand in Chicago’s criminal court on day three. That is where he revealed how the Empire star directed each and every act in a timely manner, making it hard for anyone to guess that it was actually fake.
All aspects of the attack were deemed fake by the witness and that includes the series of racial and homophobic slurs that the witness and his brother were instructed to use. In addition to that, the witness revealed how each and every punch was also staged in a professional manner.
“He explained to me very carefully how he wanted me to fake beat him up,” he testified.
“I had no choice but to agree to it because I honestly felt indebted to him. He even got me a stand-in-role on Empire, and for that reason, I felt like he would assist me in bringing my acting career up too,” he added.
The news comes as a huge shock to many of the star’s fans and followers, as he was reported to have made several complaints to the police about how he was at the center of a vicious hate crime act in January of 2019.
