BREAKING: Veteran Actor And ‘General Hospital’ Star Jack Axelrod Has Passed Away


Veteran actor and General Hospital star Jack Axelrod has passed away at the age of 93, his representative confirmed.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jennifer Garland confirmed that her client had passed away at his home in Los Angeles on November 28.

“I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with him in his last years, as he had no immediate family,” the rep said.

“We spent much time outdoors, where Jack loved to sketch, read news articles, and recite Shakespearean sonnets.”

Axelrod, who was born in 1930, served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany between 1953 and 1955.

After finishing his service and returning home, he studied at the University of California and went on to become a licensed architect.

It wasn’t until after the Korean War that the entertainer began pursuing his passion for acting while working as an architect. In his early acting career, Axelrod learned from Tony Award winner Uta Hagen at NYC’s Herbert Berghof Studio.

Following his film debut in 1971 – Woody Allen’s Bananas – Axelrod worked as an actor for several decades during which he added 89 acting credits to his name.

He was best known for appearing as Victor Jerome on 40 episodes of General Hospital between 1987 and 1989.

Other noteworthy appearances included his supporting roles on the likes of My Name Is Earl, Grey’s Anatomy, Ray Donovan, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, Hancock, Dallas, Night Court, Dynasty, Everybody Loves Raymond, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and many more.

The actor’s final TV appearance was in 2020’s Bad Therapy.
