Adele has announced a temporary break from music in a bombshell reveal before her scheduled shows in Las Vegas.
The 34-year-old singer, who earlier this year rescheduled a number of performances in Las Vegas, is looking forward to completing her Sin City residency with a series of shows that will take place between November 18, 2022, and March 25, 2023.
As the ‘Someone Like You’ hitmaker revealed, however, she is looking forward to putting music on pause to focus on her passion for English literature after the concerts.
“After Vegas I really want to get a degree in English Literature. If I hadn’t made it in my singing, I think I would definitely be a teacher. I think I’d be an English Lit teacher,” she said.
The singer went on to explain that she will take an online course and aims to secure a degree by the end of her studies.
“I definitely feel like I use my passion for English Lit in what I do. But even though it’s not like I’d go on to get a job from my degree, I wish I had gone to university, I wish I’d had that experience,” she added.
“I won’t go to a university, I’ll do it online and with a tutor, but that’s my plan for 2025. It’s just to get the qualifications.”
The big reveal comes less than a month before Adele’s Las Vegas residency is set to kick off.
The singer canceled her performances with just a 24-hour notice back in January, leaving a number of fans who already flew to Las Vegas and made reservations furious.
Months after the cancelation, Adele finally managed to reschedule the events saying: “Words can’t explain how ecstatic I am to finally be able to announce these rescheduled shows. I truly was heartbroken to have to cancel them.
“But after what feels like an eternity of figuring out logistics for the show that I really want to deliver, and knowing it can happen, I’m more excited than ever!”
She concluded: “Now I know for some of you it was a horrible decision on my part, and I will always be sorry for that, but I promise you it was the right one.
“To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I’ve most been looking forward to and I’m going to give you the absolute best of me.”
