An American Airlines flight from Miami to London reportedly took a u-turn back to Miami Airport after a ‘disruptive’ passenger refused to put on her face mask.

According to local media reports, the female passenger who was reported as being in her 40’s failed to wear the mask and that left the pilot and other crew members with no other option but to turn the flight back to Miami’s International Airport.

Flight AAL38 of American Airlines arrived back at its takeoff point after spending one and a half hours in the air. Moreover, the passenger was met by police officials upon landing, as an entire commotion occurred on board.

The woman was soon escorted off of the flight and taken into police custody as reported by the Miami-Dada police recently.

Local media outlets claim that the woman was investigated briefly but she was not arrested. However, the airline has managed to place her on their ‘no-fly list’ as an investigation remains pending into the shocking and bizarre matter.

The flight’s aircraft was a Boeing 777 and it reportedly carried 129 passengers and that included up to 14 crew members. It was scheduled to arrive at London’s Heathrow International Airport and was about 500 miles into his journey that was around 4,400 miles in total.

On Thursday, American Airlines issued an apology via a public statement regarding the matter that caused inconvenience to so many travelers on board.

Meanwhile, one female passenger revealed via an interview how she and the rest of the passengers were taken care of so well by the airline, which managed to not only rebook their tickets but also arrange hotel accommodation for them too.
