Americans are being urged to conserve as much fuel as possible as the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine are going to envelop the US soon.
According to local media reports, US President Joe Biden is under pressure to ban all imports of Russian oil and natural gas. And that means records of fuel prices will skyrocket in no time.
This particular ban is all set to be levied by America alone and without any joint talks with others allies hailing from the European Union, confirmed reports. But that news is very surprising for so many as they are the ones who heavily rely on Russia’s sources of energy.
Other reports confirmed how the US markets only purchased around 3.5% of its crude oil sources from Russia in the past year and most of it hailed from Canada.
Meanwhile, the prices of gas in the US are flying in the air with records skyrocketing like never before seen. And that means citizens of the US will be the ones adversely affected by the decision.
Ever since Russia opted to invade Ukraine, the prices were seen going up steadily but the fact that they reached this point is definitely a concern that most experts are now talking about.
While many did not anticipate the war lasting this long, the effects will soon be felt as US gas has now reached an average value of nearly $4.17 per gallon.
On the other hand, the US is looking at other alternatives for its energy supply with reports hinting at Saudi Arabia and Venezuela as potential sources that could potentially assist in filling up the gaps.
But one senator from the Republican side feels it’s beyond ridiculous and the height of insanity that the Biden administration would consider an authority nation like Venezuela for its oil.
