The 48-year-old Hollywood icon is ready to leave “unhealthy LA” behind and spend more time in Cambodia amid her bitter divorce battle with Brad Pitt.

The actress herself confirmed this in an interview with WSJ. Magazine as she candidly called the City of Angels a “shallow” place and suggested she wanted to move away immediately to focus her time on life in Asia.

“It’s part of what happened after my divorce – I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can,” Jolie said as she blamed her feud with Pitt on her getting trapped in LA.

“I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”

Angelina further said she never grew close to the place because “she grew up around Hollywood.” She also said she now has no social life because of all the “expectations to be public.”

“When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much,” she continued.

And while she may not have many friends of her class and status, the humanitarian and former Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is very close to some of her refugee contacts.

“There’s a reason people who have been through hardship are also much more honest and much more connected, and I am more relaxed with them,” she expressed.

“Why do I like spending time with people who’ve survived and are refugees? They’ve confronted so much in life that it brings forward not just strength, but humanity.”
