Anne Heche’s close friend has spoken out and claimed the actress’s split from boyfriend Thomas Jane led to her downfall.
Hollywood figures and people close to the ‘Six Days Seven Nights’ star have been paying tributes to the 53-year-old actress after she was declared brain dead following her drug-fueled car crash in Mar Vista, Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, a source close to Heche spoke out and revealed what caused the actress to stray off the right path for the final time.
The Hollywood star made headlines in the past after exhibiting strange behavior following her breakups. As one source told DailyMail.com, however, nothing brought the actress down more than her split from ‘Hung’ star Thomas Jane.
The pair were reportedly dating from 2019 to 2021 and the source told the publication that Anne was “crazy in love” with the actor.
“She was crazy in love with him. After so many failed relationships she thought she finally found her person – the guy who would be in her life forever,” the actress’s friend said.
“And when they couldn’t make it work, she started falling apart.”
The source added: “Anne has always had demons and in the end, when they couldn’t make it work, she started falling apart and she turned to the things that took her out of her funk before – bad things.”
Shortly after Heche’s hospitalization, Jane spoke out and hinted that he still loved her ex as he shared his sympathy for her two sons.
“While Anne and I are no longer an item, today’s tragic news was devastating to me and to all who love her,” he told DailyMail.com shortly after the crash and days before the actress was declared brain dead.
“My heart goes out to Anne and her two sons. As of right now Anne is stable and expected to pull through. My thoughts and prayers are with Anne, one of the true talents of her generation. Thank God no one else was hurt.”
Following the news of his ex-girlfriend’s death, Jane also paid a tribute to Heche as he shared a picture of her on Instagram.
“Rest In Peace beautiful friend,” the actor wrote. “Please keep her two sons, family and loved ones in mind, in your hearts… and in peace. With love.”
