A tall apartment building caught fire with raging flames spreading from top to bottom.
The massive blaze took over one of the skyscrapers comprising the 8 Boulevard Walk by Emaar – a series of high-rising towers located in central Dubai near Burj Khalifa.
According to the preliminary reports, the fire erupted at around 2.20 am on Monday before swiftly spreading throughout an entire side of the building.
It is believed that all 35 floors of the building suffered extensive fire damage in the process.
In terrifying photos and footage from the scene, the corner side of the building was seen burning up in flames as firefighters scrambled to the apartment complex.
“My mother woke up when the fire started as her entire room was lit up,” Bindu Rai, a local who lives opposite the affected building, recalled in an interview with National World.
“My building faces Boulevard 8 and from what appeared to us, the cladding on the left side of the building was on fire from top to bottom.”
Rai added: “Fire had spread inside two apartments that were somewhere mid-way. For the rest of the building, it was limited to the exterior.”
Fortunately, the fire was contained before it had the chance to spread throughout the rest of the building and inside the apartments.
As of this writing, it remains unclear whether there were any casualties or injuries as a result of the blaze.
While it also remains unclear what exactly caused the fire, it is believed that the building’s exterior cladding took most of the damage.
