If you happen to be an avid tech enthusiast, we bet you’re probably aware of the mega launch event for iPhone 14.
However, things may not be running in Apple’s favor after Brazil recently suspended sales of all iPhones that are being sold in the country without chargers.
According to local media outlets, the Cupertino company is being bashed for failing to justify its decision to sell iPhones without any charging adapters. The news comes as both Apple and Samsung were required to justify the move that many felt didn’t make sense.
While Samsung paid heed and decided to launch its new collection of foldable devices with a charger in Brazil, Apple didn’t bother to take the guidelines into consideration.
The country’s Justice Ministry has also sent over a mega fine worth nearly $2.38 million to the company as it accused the firm of deliberately carrying out such unjust and discriminatory practices against its loyal consumers.
This particular ruling will reportedly be applied to the iPhone 12 and any subsequent models. At the same time, it’s going to apply to all those that are being sold without any battery charger, the government added.
But the news is not being taken well by the tech giant. They feel it’s unfair and they will now be appealing the decision in court.
Apple claims that the addition of chargers to households having several Apple phones in use is a complete waste, not to mention the negative impacts it has on the environment.
The leading iPhone maker pointed out that chargers take up a massive amount of resources such as zinc and plastic. And by ridding their production, they are doing the world a favor by eliminating the already massive carbon footprint located on planet earth.
Apple also revealed how removing chargers from its boxes is equivalent to reducing carbon emissions from nearly 500,000 vehicles.
