Ariana Grande’s new boyfriend has been accused of betraying and abandoning his family to be with the pop singer.

Ethan Slater, Ariana’s new boyfriend, officially filed for divorce from Lilly Jay on Wednesday, TMZ reported. The couple were married in 2018 and went on to welcome a baby boy less than a year ago.

Meanwhile, Ariana officially ended her short-lived marriage to real estate agent Dalton Gomez earlier this month.

It is believed that Grande and Slater have been growing closer in the past year after appearing side by side in Wicked. While it is not exactly clear when they began dating, sources suggested, they were “seeing each other” months before their respective marriages came to an end.

One insider spoke to TMZ to tell the publication that Slater’s soon-to-be-ex-wife feels “devastated” and “blindsided” by her husband’s actions. She also believes that he abandoned his family to be with Ariana.

The source further suggested that Jay feels “betrayed” since the singer previously spent time together with her and Slater.

“Ethan sat Lilly down a few days before the news broke about him and Ariana and said that he wanted a divorce. Lilly never saw it coming!” another insider told Us Weekly.

One source also told the media that Grande and Slater were exposed after not being careful while filming Wicked in London months ago.

“Ariana and Ethan weren’t careful. They’d hold hands on set in between takes. They were sloppy and not hiding it,” they claimed. “It’s understandable that it’s difficult to see an ex move on, especially in such a public way, and they are trying to be as respectful as possible.”

The news comes shortly after sources suggested that Ariana’s estranged husband was left devastated and heartbroken by the singer’s determination to “move forward.”

“Dalton has been devastated by it. A separation is not what he wanted. He wanted the fairy tale, happy ending, and it’s not looking that way,” one insider said.

“Dalton is really hoping to make things work with Ariana. Despite the rocky patches they’ve been through, he isn’t ready to give up on their marriage.

“He saw himself spending the rest of his life with Ariana and will do anything to get past this.”
