Athletes and Twitter users are calling for Skip Bayless to be fired after his ‘inconsiderate’ Damar Hamlin post on Twitter.
NFL players have banded together to call for the 71-year-old sports commentator to be fired from the show after his post about the suspension of the Bills-Bengals game.
While an emergency medical team helped Hamlin after he suddenly collapsed, Bayless wrote on Twitter: “No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how?”
He went on: “This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome… which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”
His post sparked outrage, with many slamming the TV personality for being inconsiderate and insensitive.
NFL players were quick to respond to the host’s post, with Jacksonville Jaguars star Logan Cooke saying: “This is the most inconsiderate thing you could have said. We are human beings not just numbers. You’ve obviously never stepped foot in a locker room or been apart of a family like this.”
Cooke added: “We are a band of brothers! Get over yourself man… Praying hard for Damar and his family!”
Jets cornerback Sauce Garner also wrote: “Are you seriously talking about when the football game should be postponed? Damar Hamlin’s health is ALL that matters at the moment! Nothing else.”
Free agent wideout Dez Bryant also tweeted: “WE NEED TO CANCEL @RealSkipBayless ASAP.”
Many professional athletes also slammed Bayless for his post.
ESPN NBA analyst wrote: “You’re a sick individual. Real Talk.”
Free agent NBA point guard Isaiah Thomas said: “I hope they fire you bro!!! For you to even THINK of the game is very sad.”
More people stood up for Hamlin, with former Oregon State receiver Rahmel Dockery urging the network to ‘fire him… immediately.”
Morning news anchor Joe Scanlan also asked: “How can any human being watch what happened tonight, then have this take? Incredible.”
