Four of the seven victims who passed away in the Bayesian superyacht incident were trapped alive, as per the latest autopsy results released to the public.
Investigators revealed how they were stuck inside the ship’s cabins as the vessel went down off the Sicilian coast last month.
NYC Lawyer Chris Morvillo and his partner alongside Morgan Stanley’s CEO and his wife were amongst those who died from ‘dry drowning’ as per the test results carried out in the past two days.
This Italian news outlet spoke about how the results showed that none of the victims had water inside their lungs trachea or stomach.
This meant they did not drown in the seawater after the ship started to sink when it hit a major storm in the area.
Meanwhile, pathologists at the Forensic Center revealed how the victims passed away from asphyxiation when the air bubble they huddled in ran out of oxygen and started to get toxic with carbon dioxide.
The bodies of the majority of the victims were found inside the same cabin room on the boat’s left side. However, tech tycoon Mike Lynch’s daughter’s remains were found in the room next door that was on the left side of the hall. She was all alone, divers confirmed.
The ship ended up sinking to the floor of the ocean and sat at a tilted angle on the right side. This means the victims were mostly awake as they headed inside the cabins which filled quickly with water in final hopes of finding air pockets.
