President Trump confirmed on Monday that he and his partner Melania Trump would be attending the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican City later this week.
‘Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome’- the President shared on his Truth Social account online. He also said that he really does look forward to being there.
Hours before that, Trump had ordered all American flags across government buildings, military posts, and even naval vessels to be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of the late Pontiff’s burial.
The funeral and interment of Francis, who passed away early Monday at the age of 88, need to take place between four and six days after his death.
The exact schedule is yet to be finalized, but leaders from all over the world are expected to make it.
Before, Trump shared how he was not sure if he would be going to the funeral or not but it seems to be a sudden change in plans. ‘He was a very good man who adored the world, and he especially loved those that were having a hard time and that’s good with me’- he added.
