Bethenny Frankel took a jab at Meghan Markle following the Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell Spotify podcast episodes and her interview with The Cut magazine.
The 51-year-old businesswoman and entrepreneur who appeared in eight seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City has branded Meghan as “sanctimonious” after the duchess repeatedly blasted the Royal Family and accused them of racism despite previously insisting she wanted to live a private life.
Frankel’s comments come after Prince Harry’s wife claimed she hasn’t been subjected to racism until she married into the Royal Family and accused the British media of calling her son Archie the N-word.
Standing up to Meghan’s allegations, Frankel accused the duchess of trying to mimic Princess Diana and acting like a former Real Housewife who “won’t stop talking about it” after leaving the show.
“The bottom line is I don’t think people like Meghan Markle because I think she talks down to other people, I think she’s sanctimonious,” Frankel said on her iHeart podcast.
“I think there’s this subtext of elevation. She’s up there, we’re down here.”
The 51-year-old TV personality also described the Montecito mom-of-two as a “polarizing” person who believes she “has institutional knowledge on life and has experienced more than any of us.”
“She’s very self-important. She’s very much like a Housewife in that she can’t stop talking about the very thing that she wants to be irrelevant,” the former Real Housewives star added.
“If she were on the show, the producers would say, ‘Stop talking about security and the state of Frogmore Cottage. It’s not relatable. Most people don’t have a security detail so while that may be a real concern for you, it’s not something that is going to play to this audience.’”
Frankel also accused the duchess of carrying herself too high in the public and attempting to assert a position similar to that of late Princess Diana.
“I think there’s a non-relatable factor in the way that we’re being spoken to,” the businesswoman said.
“In that poised, orchestrated elegance, in that mimicking of Diana, in that Caroline Kennedy-style intentional, very natural, very slow speech. Being aghast at the word ‘diva.’ Who are you relating to?”
