Betty White’s Los Angeles home was torn down less than a year after the actress and comedian passed away.
The Golden Girls star died at her second home in Carmel-By-The-Sea on December 31, 2021, just weeks before she was set to become a centenarian.
Following her passing, Betty’s Los Angeles home in Brentwood was sold for more than $10.6 million. As the actress’s assistant, Kiersten Mikelas, now revealed, the property was demolished just months after it was bought.
White lived in her Brentwood home with her third husband, Allen Ludden, from 1968 until his death in 1981. While the Golden Girls icon seemed to prefer her other home after that, she held onto her property for decades until her death.
“Hello all! I owe a post (or two) I know. This is such a busy time of year and coming up on the anniversary of Betty’s passing is hitting in ways I hadn’t anticipated,” Kiersten announced in a viral post.
“Her Brentwood home is no more (save the fireplaces which will be gone in short order). I promise a wonderful tribute to our most wonderful lady very soon!!!!”
The Brentwood property was a 3,029-square-foot 2-story house with five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The house also featured a pool and came with a view of the Getty museum.
While the reasoning behind the home’s demolition remains unclear, it was previously reported that the new owners intended to tear the house down.
Meanwhile, White’s Carmel-By-The-Sea property still stands, whereas the home was sold back in April for nearly $10.8 million – almost $3 million over the asking price.
