Renowned singer Billie Eilish is not happy and she’s calling out all those people who showed immense support for Johnny Depp during his defamation trial but failed to speak up on matters like the overruling of Roe v Wade.
The celeb says it’s beyond appalling for her to see the country’s Supreme Court give such a terrible decision but what’s even worse is who the nation chooses to stay silent on a major matter that is removing a fundamental right belonging to women.
On Friday, the US was taken aback when the Supreme Court chose to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that gave women the liberty to carry out an abortion, based on their own free will.
The fact that the internet was going nuts on Johnny Depp and his former partner Amber Heard’s lawsuit and is now choosing to stay silent on the ruling has Billie in a dilemma.
The 20-year-old who is known for expressing her thoughts on social media says it’s just painful to live in a country where such decisions are being made and whose citizens couldn’t be bothered to protest.
While bashing so many for remaining silent, Billie was seen taking the stage at her recent concert for the Glastonbury Festival where she chose to leave by making a statement.
“The song that I am about to perform has a very special meaning attached to it. It’s one of the best pieces that I have ever written. And it is related to the great power of love. We need to remember that we can’t abuse power”- the celeb continued.
Billie continued by calling the day of the ruling one of the darkest moments in the nation’s history for women, adding how she just couldn’t even bear to think about it all much longer because that’s how painful it was for her.
