It’s a landmark decision in American history as the country’s first-ever black female justice was recently sworn in as the latest member of the Supreme Court.
Ketanji Brown Jackson was seen making her way amid a loud cheer and round of applause while getting sworn into the Supreme Court bench on Thursday.
The judicial oath was seen being administered by the retiring Supreme Court Judge Stephen Breyer who embarked the honor upon his replacement.
Jackson is said to make history with the ceremony on Thursday, as she became the first female black judge to serve on the Supreme Court. And it wouldn’t be wrong to say that her timing was deemed to be pivotal for many after the controversial Roe v. Wade overruling shocked the nation.
The Supreme Court was seen overruling the classic abortion act that many felt plunged the nation into a state of worry and absolute darkness. Many citizens condemned the decision including President Biden who said it was a terrible decision to take place by the Supreme Court in the nation’s history.
As you can expect, many are hoping for a revolutionary change as the court issues its final two decisions of the year and a consequential term.
Judge Jackson’s parents had reportedly attended segregated schools. She is believed to have two major law degrees from Harvard University and now at the age of 51, she has finally made her way to replace Justice Stephen.
After being elected and winning the majority of votes, which meant beating out Republican representatives, many hailed her for her greatness.point 237 |
Moreover, President Biden accepted her as a clear favorite candidate whom he believed had everything required to turn the justice system around with her great education, experience, and skill.point 164 | 1
