A senior member of the Russian military has reportedly been killed in a fiery car explosion in Moscow.
According to reports from local media outlets, he was identified as one of Putin’s top men in the military and went by the name Yaroslav Moskalik.
He served as the head of the main operations directorate of the Russian Armed Forces. According to reports from local media outlets, he passed away after his vehicle blew up in the town of Balashikha.
The bomb was planted in the parked vehicle and was remotely detonated when the officer walked past it.
Footage captured from the incident showed the vehicle engulfed entirely in flames near the apartment building just moments after the explosion had taken place.
Authorities haven’t officially confirmed any other details on the matter, which comes just a day after Russia rolled out its deadliest attack on Ukraine in over one year.
The country is certainly facing scrutiny from US President Donald Trump, who has reportedly sat down to broker a peace deal with Ukraine’s Zelensky and Russia’s Putin.
So far, he’s been unsuccessful. The news also comes at a time when the American convoy is in Moscow to sit down for more peace talks, but this latest aftermath will have serious consequences moving forward.
