Lisa Bonet has finally filed for divorce from estranged husband Jason Momoa nearly two years after the pair first announced their split.
The 56-year-old Cosby Show star filed all the necessary documentation to proceed with the official split from the 44-year-old Game of Thrones actor, TMZ reported.
The news comes almost two years after the couple confirmed their break-up in a joint statement shared on their social media accounts.
According to the documents filed in the court, however, Jason and Lisa have been separated since October 2020, just months after the actor restored his lover’s 1965 Mustang as a present to her.
While rumors of the couple parting ways had been around since late 2020, Momoa and Bonet didn’t confirm the split until January 2022 when they opened up about their decision and claimed they would continue doing what was best for their children.
“We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is unfolding and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so we share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage,” the pair wrote in a joint statement that shocked their fans to the core.
They continued: “We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.
“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become.”
Concluding their post, the Hollywood couple insisted that their devotion to their kids, including then-13-year-old Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa and then-14-year-old Lola Lolani Momoa, remains unwavering.
