In connection with the tragic massacre earlier this week in Michigan, Ethan Crumbley’s parents have been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
After alleging that the parents of 15-year-old school shooter Ethan Crumbley, who is accused of killing four students at Oxford High School, ignored multiple warning signs and refused to take their son out of school just hours before the shooting, the prosecutor in Michigan filed involuntary manslaughter charges against them on Friday.
James and Jennifer Crumbley were charged with four charges of involuntary manslaughter, which has a maximum punishment of 15 years in jail, by Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald.
Karen McDonald, the Oakland County prosecutor said, “While the shooter was the one who entered the high school and pulled the trigger, there are other individuals who contributed to the events on November 30 and it’s my intention to hold them accountable as well.”
She further added, “These charges are intended to hold the individuals who contributed to this tragedy accountable and also send the message that gun owners have a responsibility. When they fail to uphold that responsibility, there are serious and criminal consequences.”
The prosecutor disclosed that on November 26, James Crumbley, who, like his wife, had a criminal history in Michigan, purchased the murder weapon from a merchant there with his son.
McDonald claims that the father kept the 9mm handgun in an unlocked drawer in his bedroom. Ethan’s mother sent a message on social media the next day, saying, “Mom and son testing out his new Christmas present.”
On the shooting day, the mother texted her son, saying, ‘lol, I’m not furious at you, you just have to learn not to get caught.’
A teacher discovered a strange message on Ethan’s desk the morning of the shooting, which included graphic drawings of a gun, a bullet, blood everywhere, a gunshot victim, and a laughing emoji.
The prosecutor said the message contained the following phrases: ‘Thoughts won’t stop, help me,”my life is useless,’ and ‘the world is dead.’

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the punishment of 15 years of jail is enough for them?
