The thought that a teacher could fall to this level really shocked the mom for obvious reasons. “It was a pencil after all and it just blew her mind that her special needs child was being dealt with in this manner.

The price mentioned in the bill was 20p for one pencil and seeing that come in the form of a bill really had so many people in awe as to what was going on.

The school was identified as Lawn Primary School and they informed the mom that this was not going to be acceptable for any child to simply break a pencil and get away with it.

“You would be liable to cover the costs linked to the replacement of the damaged equipment and you would now need to settle the bill as soon as possible”- the letter read.

Lennie is a student in grade six and has additional needs such as ADHD and autism. Therefore, this in turn means the school that he goes to gets extra funding specifically for him.

From now on, the mother has mentioned that her child would be taking his own stationery to avoid mishaps like this.

So that means it would have pens and pencils that he brought from home. The issue here is that it’s not allowed due to the school’s current COVID-19 regulations.

Interestingly, the mother says that her child was not the only one to have gotten a bill for the snapped pencil. Several other students were treated in the same way.
