A 6-year-old boy was fatally attacked by a school bus in New Orleans on Thursday.
The news was confirmed recently by the New Orleans Police Department’s press release.
The incident arose at 8 am where the victim, Mayson Richards, was killed a block away from his residence after exiting his mom’s car on Desire Street in New Orleans.
He was said to be running towards the school bus when it hit him. After Richards was hit, the bus stopped further down the street. His mom picked him up and carried him back to her vehicle in an attempt to take him to the hospital.
Two neighbors tried to perform CPR until an ambulance arrived. The student was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he passed away from his serious injuries.
The bus driver stayed at the scene, and the driver didn’t have any signs of impairment and took a field sobriety test. So far, no one has been charged in relation to the incident.
One of the people who rushed to the scene of the accident was a family friend named Pastor Fredrick. He says that seeing a six-year-old child die in the streets is the most horrific thing to witness.
He sent out prayers to the family during this difficult time and prayed for God’s blessings upon him. The parents are numb with grief and cannot even begin to imagine this trauma.
