Former US President Jimmy Carter was seen bidding a final farewell to his beloved wife, Rosalynn Carter.
The frail-appearing Carter traveled two hours from hospice and was wheeled into the memorial service yesterday where a leading number of dignitaries and officials were witnessed standing side by side.
Carter was in tears as he said goodbye while standing next to his grandson who spoke on his behalf. He added how his grandfather was overcome with grief but had to make it to the service for the final farewell.
“He knows that this is the end and she is gone. But he is very physically diminished”- his grandson added.
The 99-year-old is the 39th President of the United States and he was seen watching in silence from a distance as many personalities came over to meet him and offer their condolences on the occasion. This included former First Ladies Michelle Obama and Melania Trump who surprisingly stood side by side as they paid their respects.
The service was held during the afternoon hours of Tuesday and that’s when Jimmy was seen seated in his wheelchair to reach the front row at the Glenn Memorial Church across the campus of Emory University in Atlanta. This was right by the side of so many guests of honor including President Biden and the First Lady Jill Biden.
Jimmy was married to his wife for a whopping 77 years and they were said to share the most incredible bond with one another. He is reported to have mentioned how he would not miss her service for anything and he stayed true to just that.
Rosalynn was famous for being his rock and he was just super glad that he did not miss it despite many people being worried about him and his own health. Carter has been in hospice care for the past ten months, sources have confirmed and therefore was not seen in public for so long.
